Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?

After early retirement, I decided to start a new chapter of my life abroad. For family immigration with my school-age children, I considered factors like safety, the education system, living costs, and visa conditions. After evaluating these criteria, I decided to move to Canada.

Why did you choose Visa JP Canada for assistance?

Administrative procedures can be challenging in Japan, and I thought it would be even more difficult in another country. To increase certainty and speed, I decided to consult with experts. Initially, I consulted with Ms. Shiraishi to map out a path toward permanent residence, then made decisions such as selecting a school. We had Ms. Gould handle the application for the study permit. I also requested the spouse’s work visa for my family.

Was there anything memorable during the application and approval process?

During the preparation of the application documents, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) suddenly changed its policies, raising the barriers to obtaining a visa. However, thanks to the swift response from the immigration consultant, we were able to overcome this challenge.

How did you feel about the services of Visa JP Canada?

The general level of service in Canada might not seem as high as in Japan, but I felt that Visa JP Canada provided service at the same level as in Japan, or even better.

Offering such detailed services while operating in Canada must be difficult, but from the perspective of a customer, it was a very appreciated service.

What are your future plans in Canada and your message to those who are planning to move to Canada?

About a week after arriving in Canada, while walking in a park with my family, a Canadian man approached me and asked, “Is that your family? Why are they rushing so much?” I quickly responded, “Maybe it’s because we came from Tokyo.”

He replied, “That makes sense,” gave me a fist bump, and said, “Enjoy Canada!” before walking away.

It made me realize that life in Tokyo might have been rushed, and I hadn’t fully enjoyed it as I could have.
