A Study Permit Refused on a Self-Filed Application: A Successful Re-Application With Professional Support|Ms. S

Ms. S was affected by the lengthening of study permit processing times amid recent changes in immigration policy. She first chose to file on her own for her daughter’s university studies, but the application was unfortunately refused, and she then came to Shiraishi VisaJP Canada. With limited time remaining and our support, the re-application was approved and her daughter’s studies in Canada were able to begin.
After the self-filed application was refused, I looked at successful re-applications and decided to trust Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s track record and capability.

Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?
For university studies.
What made you choose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada?
When I consulted them about the study permit application, they explained the many questions I had very carefully and clearly. Because mine was a re-application after a refusal on a self-filed application, I also looked at other clients’ successful re-applications, and I became convinced that I could trust Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s capability and track record, so I decided to have them file for me.
What was the most memorable part of the process?
When they filed in mid-June, the estimated processing time was about four weeks, and I expected a result within July. But the review gradually fell behind, and the estimate eventually stretched to ten weeks. The possibility of missing the departure date became very real, and we had to prepare ourselves to change flights and accommodation. Even then, thanks to Ms. Gould’s efforts, the permit was issued more than a week before departure. She gave us detailed guidance on the application documents and filed immediately after we submitted everything, which I feel was one of the main reasons it was in time.
How was your experience using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services?
Our first, self-filed application had deficiencies and was unfortunately refused. For my daughter’s future I felt we had to get it right this time, so I turned to Shiraishi VisaJP Canada. As my correspondence with Ms. Gould began, her prompt and thorough handling gradually deepened my trust.
Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada
I had assumed that a study permit was relatively easy for a Japanese national to obtain. But with immigration policy tightening in recent years, it seems refusals are not uncommon. In my daughter’s case the first application had deficiencies and was refused. That experience made me keenly aware that professional support is essential if you want to secure the visa reliably and keep your studies on track. Receiving precise advice and support within a limited time was hugely reassuring. I am deeply grateful. If the opportunity arises again, I would certainly like to ask them.
Key Points from the Consultant
Ms. S contacted us for a re-application after her own study permit application was refused.
Because it was a re-application following a refusal, and because we wanted to make the filing as thorough as possible, we reviewed the contents of the documents she provided in fine detail. We asked for additional documents at times, and she always cooperated positively, which I believe is why the approval came through.
Unfortunately, processing times kept lengthening during the review, which added to her anxiety, and we are sorry about that — but we are glad the approval arrived before departure.
University study will be demanding, but we hope her daughter thoroughly enjoys her time studying in Canada.
