I was so busy with work that applying myself was difficult, and I didn't know how to even gather information, but they supported me kindly even though I knew nothing, and I was able to immigrate successfully!
What did you do before coming to Canada?
After working at a local print shop for several years, I attended a web-related vocational school in Tokyo. Then I developed a desire to study video production abroad, and decided to go to Canada to study (on a working holiday).
Please tell us how you got permanent residence.
After arriving in Vancouver, I discovered I had misunderstood the tuition at the school I planned to attend and did not have enough money. So I set school aside for the time being, looked for work, and found a job posting for a web designer. At first I worked part-time, designing and building websites.
After that, I applied for a work permit twice.
When I went to the Seattle office to apply for my first work permit, the officer did not accept the documents I brought and instructed me to leave Canada within 2 weeks, but the Jinzai Canada immigration consultant handling my case solved the problem, and I was able to get the permit without leaving the country.
Later, as my second work permit was about to expire, my company offered to support my immigration application. I consulted the same immigration consultant again.
In my case, there were several possible application options (based on my skills and so on, the consultant told me how many categories I could apply under and which of them had the highest chance of success), and I decided to apply under the category called BCPNP, which I was told was likely to have the highest chance.
During the application, my medical exam request was sent while Canada Post (the postal service) in BC was on strike, so there was a hiccup and I received it about a month late, but I recently completed landing and have officially finished the immigration process!
What’s next?
I now have the choice of working as a creator in Japan or aiming even higher in Canada. Now that I have immigrated, I really feel how powerful it is to be able to choose where to work across countries.
So, to aim higher as a creator once again, I’m thinking of making full use of my rights as an immigrant to attend various schools.
