This was the third time we handled applications for Mrs. Y and her spouse. The first was restoration of her spouse’s status plus a spousal open work permit; the second, while Mrs. Y held a working holiday visa, was a study permit and a spousal open work permit for her studies.
At that time the immigration authority was just about to change the eligibility requirements for spousal open work permits. Because she came to us early and both she and her spouse cooperated, we completed the filing before the rule change — I remember it well.
Last time the permits were short because of passport expiry dates, so this time we filed an extension of the study permit to cover her entire period of study, together with the corresponding extension of the spousal open work permit.
