When an AI-Based School Application System Could Not Resolve the Issue, Professional Consulting and Representation Secured a Study Permit|Ms. T

This case involved a client who decided to pursue studies in Canada with the goal of obtaining a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) after graduation. While applying for a study permit through the system designated by the school, the client encountered errors and became stuck because the school’s designated website relied on an AI-based support system. After being referred by another educational support company, the client consulted with Shiraishi Visa JP Canada.
Based on the consultant’s assessment, we were able to reduce costs by determining that translations of certain bank documents requested by another company were unnecessary. We then promptly and reliably completed the application process, which had been completely stalled.
The consultant was extremely kind and thorough, explaining even the smallest questions carefully, which put me at ease.

Why did you decide to move to Canada?
When I first started considering studying abroad, I was hoping to study in the United States. However, while researching visa options after graduation, I learned about Canada’s PGWP program and decided to choose Canada instead.
I also thought that there might be a possibility of gaining work experience in Canada first and then eventually moving to the United States for a career change, which was another reason I decided on Canada.
Why did you decide to use Shiraishi Visa JP Canada’s services?
When I tried to apply for a study permit through the website designated by my school, I discovered that my application file exceeded the size limit, so I could not submit it.
I tried asking the designated website for a solution, but I kept receiving responses from an AI system, and I became completely stuck and had no idea what to do.
At that point, another study-abroad support company referred me to Shiraishi Visa JP Canada. I suddenly contacted them by both email and phone, but they were extremely courteous and helpful, and the entire process was completed much more smoothly than before.
What was the most memorable part of the application process?
Through the website designated by my school, I was told that I would need extensive translations, including bank statements and other financial documents. However, when I consulted with Shiraishi Visa JP Canada, they explained that I could apply with the documents I already had.
After they began assisting me with the process, I was able to complete the application very quickly. The staff member in charge was also extremely kind and knowledgeable, and carefully explained even the smallest questions, which gave me peace of mind.
How was your experience using Shiraishi Visa JP Canada’s services?
Overall, I am extremely satisfied.
I was told that responses could sometimes take longer due to the time difference, but since I often received responses from Canada while it was nighttime in Japan, I never felt that the service was particularly slow.
Because they have extensive specialized knowledge and expertise in visa applications, I was able to complete the application without having to hire a separate translation service. I also felt that their service was reasonably priced compared with other companies.
Being able to visit their local office and consult face-to-face in Japanese is also a great advantage, and I think their service is ideal for international students.
What are your plans for your life in Canada, and what message would you give to those considering coming to Canada?
The cost of living has increased significantly over the past few years, and the weaker Japanese yen has also made studying abroad more expensive, making it a difficult option for many people.
Canada has a very well-developed study-abroad system, so I feel that if Japan could provide more comprehensive support for people studying abroad, it could further promote internationalization.
It can be a significant burden for people who want to challenge themselves overseas when there is little government support while the exchange rate is unfavorable.
Another challenge is that the academic calendar in Canada differs from Japan, and reaching the required level of English proficiency can take considerable time. From improving your English skills to entering school, graduating, and finding employment, the entire process can take much longer than the path of entering a university and finding a job in Japan.
I hope these challenges can be addressed so that more people who wish to study abroad can take that step.
I hope everyone will see studying abroad as an opportunity for personal growth in an environment that suits them, continue making daily efforts, and ultimately achieve their biggest dreams.
Key Points from the Consultant
Ms. T asked us to handle an extension of her study permit in connection with moving from a language school to college. She had initially attempted to apply using the method the school had provided, but ran into problems, which is how she came to consult us. Living locally in Vancouver, she made time in a busy schedule to come to the office on several occasions. So that her parents in Japan could also feel reassured, we held a three-way video call and worked through every question and concern as the application progressed. As a result, the approval arrived far sooner than the standard processing time. With time still to spare before the September term begins, she will be able to return to Japan for the summer and spend valuable time with her family, which everyone here is very pleased about.
