Shiraishi VisaJP Canada supports study permit applications that include a Co-op work placement. In this case, we share the story of Ms. S, who visited her school in Canada on an eTA to see it in person before formally applying for her study permit from Japan, and was approved in just 6 days.
It gave me a great sense of reassurance. Even when I felt something would be difficult to handle on my own, I was able to see a clear path forward after consulting with them, which helped me enormously.

Key Points from the Consultant
Ms. S engaged us to handle her study permit application for studying in a program that includes a Co-op (work placement).
After signing with us, she first visited Canada on an eTA to see the school in person, returned to Japan, and then formally submitted her study permit application. It left a strong impression on us that she prepared for her studies one step at a time — choosing the school, visiting it in person, and then applying for the visa.
The preparation went smoothly overall, but we found that the date of birth shown on the Letter of Acceptance issued by the school and on the PAL (Provincial Attestation Letter) was one day off from Ms. S's correct date of birth.
For the Letter of Acceptance, we asked the school to correct it, and they were able to reissue it with the right date. The PAL, however, could not be reissued in a corrected version, so we submitted the application with an explanation attached so that the reviewing officer would understand the discrepancy.
The review that followed went very smoothly, and her study permit was approved shortly after she completed her biometrics.
Ms. S's application also fell during the period when programs that include a Co-op moved to a new system under which, if certain conditions are met, the work placement can be carried out under the conditions of the study permit without obtaining a separate Co-op Work Permit. Because it coincided with this change, this was a case where we proceeded while checking the latest rules.
We are very pleased that Ms. S prepared in such a well-planned way — from choosing her school, to visiting it in Canada, to applying for her visa from Japan — and has now started her student life in Canada. We sincerely hope this time abroad proves a fulfilling and rewarding experience for her.
