Customer Comments and Testimonials

This case involved a client who successfully obtained a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP) simultaneously, following a career change to programming and college enrollment in their 40s. In addition to navigating the severe processing delays at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) during 2025–2026, we meticulously reviewed the requirements for the spousal work permit. Due to recent policy changes, applying individually for an SOWP carried an extremely high risk of refusal. Amidst a landscape of conflicting and inaccurate information, we relied on the latest, precise regulations to successfully transition the status of the entire family.

Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?

I had harbored a desire to “live abroad” and “relearn programming” since my 20s, but I reached my 40s without taking action. I felt that if I didn’t act, I would miss the opportunity entirely. Upon discovering that studying abroad could serve as a pathway to immigrating to Canada, I decided it was my last chance and took the leap.

What made you choose VisaJP Canada?

Besides having an office in Vancouver—the destination I was considering—I was impressed by their continuous updates on the latest immigration policies via their website and official YouTube channel. I particularly trusted them because they were honest about unfavorable policy changes and the harsh realities facing prospective immigrants. I felt I could consult with them confidently, which led to my decision.

What was the most memorable part of the process?

While PGWP applications are generally expected to be processed within 180 days, during 2025–2026, some cases took over 200 days, and the situation was highly unpredictable. Seeing my classmates receive their work permits earlier while my results were delayed caused me significant anxiety. Throughout this period, their courteous email support was a tremendous source of reassurance.

How was your experience using VisaJP Canada’s services?

After graduation, most of my classmates applied for their PGWPs on their own, making it seem feasible to do independently. However, there was very little information available about applying for a Spousal Open Work Permit simultaneously, which made me uneasy. Having heard stories of people failing to secure spousal visas due to form errors, I decided to request their representative services. As a result, I was able to proceed without carrying unnecessary anxiety and am highly satisfied with the outcome.

Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada

Moving forward, I plan to build my work experience in Canada and aim for Permanent Residency. Initially, I tried to research and plan everything on my own, but I feel that ended up being a detour. With so much to handle—including procedures, studies, and job hunting—I believe relying on experts for tasks you can delegate is the shortest route to success.

Additional Comments

Because immigration policies change frequently, it is easy to be misled by outdated information or inaccurate advice. Under these circumstances, I strongly felt the value of consulting experts who are up to date with the latest regulations. While some may hesitate due to the cost, I believe their consulting services are ultimately a highly cost-effective investment.

Consultant's Point

We have known this client for three years, beginning when they initially consulted us from Japan with the goal of working in Canada. Since then, they studied at a college in Vancouver, successfully graduated, and proceeded with their PGWP application. Currently, spouses of college students are not eligible for a work permit. Furthermore, under the PGWP program, a Spousal Open Work Permit is only granted if the principal applicant is working in an eligible occupation. This client proactively started a part-time job during their studies with an eye toward their post-graduation plans. By demonstrating their strong work ethic before graduating, they secured a promise of full-time employment upon graduation. We believe this smooth process was made possible because they consistently prepared well in advance and verified their direction with us at every step. We look forward to continuing to support them on their journey toward Permanent Residency. Let’s keep up the great work!
