What Is the Canada Visa Application Centre?
The Canada Visa Application Centre (VAC) is an official service centre contracted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to support applicants. At a VAC you can have your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) collected and submit paper applications.
VACs do not assess or decide applications; all decisions are made by IRCC.
Main Services of the Canada Visa Application Centre
- Biometrics enrolment.
- Submission of visa applications on printed paper forms.
What Is Biometrics Enrolment?
When applying for a Canadian visa, submitting biometrics as personal identification information is required in most cases. This means study permit, work permit and visitor visa applicants provide biometric information every 10 years, and permanent residence applicants provide it with each application. In Japan, this process takes place at the Canada Visa Application Centres in Tokyo and Osaka, where a facial photo and fingerprints are taken and the required identification information is provided to the Government of Canada. For details, see this link: Biometrics
