Applicant's Comment

Visa JP Canada's representative application service not only prepared the application documents for us, but also responded quickly when additional documents were requested, answered the many questions we had about visas and permanent residence, and gave detailed explanations of the required documents and other care in both English and Japanese, so it was a huge help for both me and my Italian boyfriend.

What Made You and Your Common-Law Partner Pursue Canadian Permanent Residence Together?

We met in the United States and were working in Florida at the time, but when we thought about the future, Canada had better health insurance and retirement benefits than the U.S., and if we were blessed with children, it also had a better environment in terms of safety and education, so we chose Canada. Another big factor was that when we actually came to Vancouver and saw the people and the city, we both instinctively felt, ‘This is it!’ Even within Canada, we strongly wanted to move to Vancouver rather than any other city.

What Was the Hardest or Most Memorable Part of the Process?

Nothing was especially hard, but if I had to say, I’m not good at waiting, so having no choice but to wait until the results came out was tough (laughs).

My boyfriend’s Italian working holiday visa was only for 6 months, so he tried to switch to a study permit afterward, but it was refused. We were at a loss, so I also consulted the Visa JP Canada immigration consultant who had handled my work permit application about him. As a result, he was able to get a spousal work permit too!

Another memorable thing: at first I planned to apply for permanent residence through the Canadian Experience Class, but right before applying, my occupation was removed from the eligible occupations and I could no longer apply, which was a big shock… But when I consulted the employer that had supported my work permit about immigration, they agreed to support my permanent residence application as well, and I’m truly grateful.

How Did You Decide to Use Visa JP Canada?

A Japanese colleague in Florida had previously studied in Vancouver, and she told me about the websites of JP Canada Study Abroad Center (JPカナダ留学センター) and Jinzai Canada.

I decided to use them because when I attended a free counselling session and a seminar, I got the impression that they were ‘a large, experienced company.’ People around me had warned me to beware of fraudulent or overcharging agencies, but I had many friends studying abroad through JP Canada, so I felt I could trust its group company, Visa JP Canada (then called Jinzai Canada).

Please Tell Us Your Goals in Canada as a Permanent Resident.

My future goal is to study at a school in Canada to advance my career. I’m interested in web design and graphic design, so I’d like to study in that field. With permanent residence, tuition is half or less of what international students pay, so I had planned to go to school after getting permanent residence. I’m really looking forward to going to school.

I think the shortcut is to actively gather information through visa counselling and visa seminars, and to consult an immigration consultant early to make a plan. Application categories can suddenly change and force you to change your plans…! If you keep at it steadily and positively, you’ll definitely be fine, so good luck (^^)
