N.T. Applied for PR Just Before a Working Holiday Expired

I chose Canada somewhat on a whim, with a plan to attend English school in the first year and work in the second.
I liked Vancouver’s comfortable summers and having so much nature nearby more than I expected, and before I knew it I wanted to stay a little longer. I researched on my own but couldn’t find a way, and I grew anxious as my visa’s expiry approached. When I had 3 months left on my visa, a friend told me about someone who helped foreigners like me get visas in Canada, and I went to that person’s office to meet them.

That’s where I learned about something called the BCPNP. For the application, I tried to gather the documents myself as instructed, but it took far too long, and communication with the person I had spoken to also took time, so a precious month disappeared in no time. I regretted having naively hoped that this person would somehow help me, and with no time even to feel down, grasping at straws, I decided to consult Visa JP Canada, which my friends had mentioned before.

More than anything, the long waiting times. The immigration processing period was long, and my PNP approval letter arrived right before the deadline for my work permit application, so I spent many anxious days along the way.

Also, during that time there was a period of about 4 months when I couldn’t work, and I was really down, but looking back now, life works itself out, and I think I should have worried less and enjoyed that long vacation more. Having no income meant I couldn’t afford to travel or see friends, which was a big factor, but I think I could have used the time more effectively, for example doing things I’m normally too busy for or memorizing English vocabulary.

Being able to trust them to work carefully and quickly was truly huge. There was never any problem on Visa JP Canada’s side; we were always waiting for replies from the other party, so I can say with confidence that this was the best and fastest route.

Also, I’m a very anxious person by nature, so asking professionals made me feel much lighter mentally. From applying until getting PR, I saw immigration laws change quickly and circumstances shift suddenly, and seeing on Facebook and elsewhere how well they kept on top of all that, I kept thinking that applying on my own would have been impossible.

I believe there’s a way as long as you don’t give up. And by asking people with the latest information, experience and knowledge, your possibilities will expand even further. Getting PR was my immediate goal, but now I feel I’ve finally reached the starting line. I want to believe in my own potential and take on high walls. As long as you have that passion, I believe the road is open.
