My child’s permanent residence had once been renounced because the residency obligation was not met; this time I, as a permanent resident, sponsored my child to obtain it again.

My job was in an occupation designated by the government as essential, so I went to work every day without taking time off. For a while back then, I was the only passenger on my commuter bus every day.

As I went through those days and restrictions were gradually eased, the request for the final document, the passport request, came eight months later in November, and on December 9 my son successfully obtained his Confirmation of Permanent Residence.

I think that without COVID-19 he might have been able to get it even sooner, but even so, I personally feel that a one-year process was a very fast result.
