This case study introduces Client Y, who lives in Burnaby with their family and extended their stay using the COVID-19 special measures as their Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) was about to expire. Shiraishi VisaJP Canada supported them from the initial consultation on extending their stay through the application, and the permit was obtained about 1 month after applying.
Nothing beats the experience of Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s people, who have handled hundreds of cases over many years. Seasoned judgement is best left to the experienced.

Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?
Back when I had spent 15 years travelling abroad one to three times a month, I casually stopped in Canada for one night. At that moment, I sensed that this was “the only country where democracy works,” and decided that “if I have children in the future, this is where they will grow up.” Growing up somewhere without that throws everything off. That is what brought me to Canada. I came knowing nothing about visas, and when I arrived, Canadians told me, “You should live here for good, so get a better visa,” and I said, “Okay, got it.”
What made you choose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada?
Through that rather absent-minded course of events, I ended up living in Canada. This time, as my Post-Graduation Work Permit was about to expire, I looked for an immigration consultant I could consult about extending my stay. I contacted several companies, but their emails clearly showed irritable, edgy personalities, a money-first attitude, or a me-first (rather than client-first) philosophy, and I was about to give up when I came across Shiraishi VisaJP Canada. From the first email reply and the first phone conversation, I thought, “Great! I’ve finally met people with real warmth,” and decided to ask them.
The phone conversation before the work officially started was also human (not just a businesslike interview), which was good. Just as with a restaurant, where a place full of “pleasant people” is better even without a luxurious exterior and interior, being able to communicate “comfortably” matters most. Put the other way around, Shiraishi VisaJP Canada was simply “what people should be,” while other companies… well, never mind. Still, this is an important point.
What was the most memorable part of the process?
Since it is a long relationship with a lengthy process, a match where both sides can talk comfortably is best. I thought about what was difficult in the process of getting the visa, but apart from my own problem of finding where my documents were, everything went smoothly, so there was nothing particularly hard. With the documents, what helped most was being given a sample, “this is an example,” for each one.
How was your experience using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services?
The basic service principle of “thinking from the client’s standpoint” by providing samples immediately is what ultimately makes everything run smoothly… they are professionals of consideration. It was also convenient for preparation that the list of required documents came with a clear, separate deadline for each. As for why I am glad I asked Shiraishi VisaJP Canada to handle my application: take the weather, for example.
You can look up at the sky and make a rough guess, but you cannot tell that a snowstorm or hurricane is coming the day after a clear day. A weather forecaster, however, can tell quite well. In the same way, getting a visa involves many unpredictable, weather-like elements, and professionals prepare you, including for the storms. Nothing beats the experience of people who have handled hundreds of cases over many years. It is only natural to leave seasoned judgement, “reading” the situation and “intuition,” to the experienced.
Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada
As a message to those aiming for a work permit: wherever you live, whatever passport you hold and whatever your title, people should be “right and kind, always striving to improve.” So, while obtaining or aiming for a visa, if you pull yourself toward work and activities full of goodwill as a person, you will stand at the entrance to a truly fulfilling life. A visa is like a driver’s licence, not life itself. Once you stand at the starting line of living the right way, just run at full speed.
