A Smoothly Processed Application Even During COVID-19, Leading to Her Arrival in Canada|Ms. R

This case study introduces Ms. R, who lived in Japan and obtained permanent residence through Family Class (spouse) sponsorship by her Canadian husband. Concerned that errors in the many required documents could delay processing, she asked Shiraishi VisaJP Canada to handle the application. Processing went smoothly even during COVID-19, and she obtained permanent residence 5.5 months after applying and arrived in Canada.
I had planned to enter Canada as a visitor and wait for the review to finish, but I received my COPR just before my planned entry date and was able to enter as a permanent resident!

What made you choose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada?
When applying for Canadian permanent residence, I initially thought lightly that since my husband is Canadian, I could probably do it on my own. However, I learned that a very wide range of documents needs to be prepared, and that there were many cases in which missing or incorrect documents delayed approval, so I decided to use a company that provides visa application services.
I chose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada first because of the number of people who had actually used their services and their reviews, and because they clearly explained their easy-to-understand process and fee structure before I signed the contract. Another major reason was their strength in providing solid support from Canada even though I was applying from Japan. The hardest part of obtaining permanent residence was collecting many documents as quickly and reliably as possible.
While working full-time, I had to plan my schedule carefully to deal with government offices, the police station, translation requests and so on, so in October and November, before I actually submitted my application on December 1, 2020, I was busy collecting documents, including on weekends.
An explanation of my sponsor’s (my husband’s) situation and letters from family were also required, so cooperation from my husband and his family in Canada was essential, and when all the documents were collected and I was able to send them to Shiraishi VisaJP Canada, I felt a real sense of accomplishment. As for the documents to submit, I was able to go through Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s list and check each item one by one, so I did not feel anxious at all.
What was the most memorable part of the process?
What stands out in my memory is that after the sponsor assessment was approved, the medical exam and biometrics went very quickly, but there was a wait of about a month until my COPR was issued, and since I had already set my moving and departure dates (my COPR was actually issued two days before I left), I spent quite a few tense days.
How was your experience using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services?
The immigration consultant at Shiraishi VisaJP Canada not only gave me detailed advice when preparing documents but also quickly resolved, by email and phone, my questions about progress and my worries while waiting, so I am truly glad I asked them. Also, since I was moving during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a big advantage that they gave me lots of information beyond permanent residence, such as points to note when leaving Japan and the hotels Shiraishi VisaJP Canada has arrangements with.
Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada
After COVID-19, I feel that the way people work and live around the world will change significantly. As work becomes increasingly borderless, Canada is an excellent country in terms of living standards, safety and work-life balance, so I am really excited about what I can do while making use of my experience in Japan. Everyone goes through the same process when applying for a visa or permanent residence, so I recommend using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services to minimize stress and time while receiving professional knowledge and support.
For me, it took about 5.5 months from application to obtaining permanent residence (7 months including document preparation). Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, I think it went very smoothly. Application date: December 1, 2020 / COPR issued and landing signed in Canada: May 19, 2021
