What made you choose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada?
As I entered my late 30s and obtaining permanent residence was getting harder year by year, I first had a counselling session to find out what options I had. I was told that moving from BC, where I was living at the time, to Ontario to work would increase my chances, so I took the plunge and moved to Toronto. After gaining the one year of work experience needed for permanent residence, I went on to ask Shiraishi VisaJP Canada to handle the application process as well.
What was the most memorable part of the process?
Although I had finally met the requirements for permanent residence and started applying, I was anxious because I just wasn’t being selected under the PNP. Then, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada started accepting applications for the new permanent residence pathway, so I decided to apply for that in parallel. But because so many people applied, I never even received an acknowledgement of receipt, and in the end I received an invitation after the Express Entry score was lowered significantly. I was tossed around quite a bit, but my consultant, Ms. Yamashita, gave me precise advice each time, which allowed me to decide which route to continue with.
(Note: I did eventually also receive an invitation from the Ontario PNP, but chose the CEC instead.)
When the new permanent residence pathway opened, there was little time until the deadline and little information, but we kept in touch, and the required documents were handled efficiently. (Note: In the end, I chose the CEC rather than the new pathway.)
How was your experience using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services?
Some of my friends asked other companies to apply on their behalf, and I heard that, especially with small independent offices, replies to inquiries were slow, or they were asked to submit documents requiring their manager’s signature right away, and they panicked because of the tight schedule.
I had my hands full with my own work and I tend to worry, so I think I was really helped by Shiraishi VisaJP Canada, who responded quickly and gave precise advice based on their past track record.
Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada
Now that I have permanent residence, I can work without worrying about visas, so I would like to take on new challenges while continuing to work as a baker as before.
For those who will apply in the future: you may need to get employment letters from past workplaces, so when changing jobs, I recommend leaving on good terms as much as possible.
Also, for those aiming for PR as a baker: summer is the off-season for bakeries, and shifts are often cut, so if you want to gain work experience as quickly as possible, it’s a good idea to take that into account when choosing a workplace.
