Ms. S asked Shiraishi VisaJP Canada to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) extension under a special COVID-19 measure, and then asked us to handle an outside-Canada Family Class (common-law) application. With attentive consultations, she obtained permanent residence in about 4 months.
The client extended her Post-Graduation Work Permit under a special COVID-19 measure, and her Family Class application, helped by the effects of COVID-19, was also processed very quickly.

What made you choose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada?
I found Shiraishi VisaJP Canada on the internet.
When the Canadian government made it possible to extend PGWPs as a special COVID-19 measure, I asked them to apply on my behalf. I got my work permit in less than three weeks, and although the extension was supposed to be for up to a year and a half, when I looked at my permit, it had been extended by two and a half years.
After my PGWP was successfully extended, I wanted to complete my permanent residence application while I still had a valid permit, so I consulted them about permanent residence. Before consulting them, I had heard from people around me that a common-law Family Class application requires more documents than one based on marriage and takes longer to process, so honestly I thought it might be difficult. However, as we talked, I learned that in my case, applying as common-law partners would not be that difficult, so I decided to have them apply for Family Class permanent residence as a common-law partner on my behalf.
What was the most memorable part of the process?
The hardest part of preparing for the permanent residence application was the photos. I needed about 20 photos of the two of us, but when it was time to apply, I realized we had no photos of us together at all, and I was at a loss. On top of that, we were in lockdown, so we could hardly go out or see friends, and I ended up submitting photos taken mostly at home. If you are considering applying based on marriage or common-law status, it might be a good idea to take photos regularly.
I thought processing would take about a year, but I obtained permanent residence about four months after applying. I was surprised by how fast it was, and very happy.
How was your experience using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services?
This time I asked an immigration consultant at Shiraishi VisaJP Canada to apply on my behalf, but if I had applied myself, I think my worries and anxiety would have interfered with things like my job search. Also, whenever I asked even small questions, they replied right away, so things were resolved quickly and I felt reassured, which was great.
Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada
I obtained permanent residence about eight years after coming to Canada. During that time, there were times I felt anxious after applying for a work permit myself, and my LMIA was refused, so there were times I thought permanent residence was impossible.
If you want to settle permanently in Canada, or you feel unsure about applying for a visa yourself, I think it’s a good idea to consult Shiraishi VisaJP Canada once rather than worrying alone.
Additional Comments
Finally, I am truly grateful to Shiraishi VisaJP Canada, and especially to Ms. Yamashita, for all their help, from extending my PGWP to obtaining permanent residence. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
