After a Long Journey
For many years I went back and forth between Japan and Canada, but thanks to immigration consultant Ms. Shiraishi, I was finally able to immigrate.
Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?
I first became interested in studying abroad after hearing about an acquaintance’s experience, and after being exposed to an English-speaking environment through work, I thought, “Right! I’m going to study abroad!” and visited a study abroad centre in Japan. At first, because I associated English with America, I was considering studying in the U.S., but I could not even answer whether I wanted to go to the East Coast or the West Coast, so they suggested Canada, which was safe (at the time), relatively inexpensive and offered a working holiday. I was still eligible for a working holiday, so I thought going to Canada for a year using that opportunity might be a good choice. I also had a very good impression of Canada from a previous snowboarding trip to Banff, so I decided to switch to studying in Canada.
When I first explored the area around my host family’s home in Canada, I felt an incredible sense of liberation and freedom, and I felt, “This is what I was looking for!” No one interferes, you do not have to worry about what others think, and you can try anything. There is a free environment where you can express your opinions. I can be myself. I was captivated by Canada right away.
Even after my visa expired and I returned to Japan, I could not forget my life in Canada and thought only about going back, so I contacted many Canadian companies, found an employer who would support a work permit, and was able to return to Canada again.
I was very excited about a new job in a new place, but because of a poor work environment, I left the company partway through and returned to Japan when my visa expired.
At that time, I had decided to go back to life in Japan, but I missed Canada and my Canadian friends after all, and I began to think about what I could do to return.
I used to shrink back from the idea of going to a Canadian university, thinking, “No way!” But I realized there was no other way to return to Canada, so I threw myself into preparing for a Canadian university. After returning to Canada, I attended a language school to prepare for university admission, entered university successfully, and graduated. I remember feeling a tremendous sense of achievement and relief.
After graduating, Ms. Shiraishi obtained a three-year post-graduation work permit for me and I was working, but an acquaintance encouraged me, saying that since I had worked hard and finished university, I should enjoy my life more, and I was able to meet my current boyfriend.
What was the most memorable part of the process?
After that, the direction of my immigration changed, and I switched to applying under the Family Class.
When gathering documents for the Family Class application, because we both dislike having our picture taken, we had hardly any photos of the two of us, and not a single photo with anyone else. Then the pandemic began, making it even harder to prepare the documents, and the application was delayed. Things did not progress as I had hoped, and I felt frustrated at times, but in the end, once Ms. Shiraishi submitted the application, everything went smoothly, and I am relieved to have obtained permanent residence safely.
I am truly grateful to Ms. Shiraishi for this.
How was your experience using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services?
As for how I came across Shiraishi VisaJP Canada, I learned of them while I was first staying in Canada on a working holiday. I had obtained a study permit several times, visitor visas several times, and a work permit as well, so I thought it would be safer to get help from a professional this time. I also knew that many people had been able to immigrate through Ms. Shiraishi, so I decided to rely on her. Shiraishi VisaJP Canada supported me for a long time in so many ways: from preparing for university to return to Canada, through admission and graduation, to obtaining my post-graduation work permit and achieving immigration through the Family Class.
Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada
My long-held dream has finally come true, and I am sincerely grateful to Ms. Shiraishi and everyone at Shiraishi VisaJP Canada. Now, once the pandemic settles down, I will be able to go with him to visit my family in Japan.
