This is the case of Ms. N, who came to Canada on a working holiday and decided to marry a local man, and who asked Shiraishi VisaJP Canada, an affiliate of her study abroad agency, to handle an outland Family Class permanent residence application. Despite delays in the procedures, such as postal trouble with her family register, she received careful support and obtained permanent residence in 6 months.
She entrusted everything to us, including her visitor status in Canada while she waited for the review.

Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?
I was planning to change careers after ten years in the medical field, and with the casual idea that I wanted to take a long trip abroad first, I got a working holiday visa two weeks before turning 31 (a true “last-minute working holiday,” as people call it) and came to Vancouver.
A friend who runs a restaurant told me, “A former apprentice of mine has lived in Vancouver for ten years and speaks English, so you can rely on him if anything comes up.” The person I was introduced to is now my husband.
When he asked me out, he said it would be “with immigration in mind.” I did not even know what immigration meant, so it was a surprising turn of events, but since we were both at a certain age, and my visa had an expiry date that limited how long we could be together, I was pushed into a situation where I had to decide quickly and start preparing.
What made you choose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada?
At first, I had no idea what was needed, so I went to Shiraishi VisaJP Canada for a consultation, because it was an affiliate of Jpcanada, which I had used as my study abroad agency, and because a married couple who are friends of my husband had also used their services.
What was the most memorable part of the process?
After my working holiday visa expired, I returned to Japan temporarily. After re-entering Canada, we lived together, and with three months left on my visitor status, we began working on the application in earnest.
First, to register our marriage, I ordered a copy of my Japanese family register, but because of a postal problem, it took a month to reach me. We finally registered our marriage, held a hurried wedding party, and ordered a new copy of the family register. By the time I could finally submit the application, less than a month remained on my visa.
Without waiting for the surname on my passport to be changed, I hurriedly requested a visitor extension on the grounds that a spousal immigration application was in progress, and afterwards a series of tedious steps followed, such as updating my name.
For spousal and common-law immigration, as proof of the relationship we had to submit photos that trace our history together, a record of our relationship since we met, and each of our addresses, jobs and so on going back many years.
Luckily, I often take photos and keep notes in a planner, so that part was fine, but it reminded me how important it is to keep my own personal history properly organized on a daily basis.
After applying, I answered the occasional requests, and at the designated clinic for my medical exam, the doctor scolded me for coming alone when I could not speak English, but otherwise they were calm days of simply waiting.
How was your experience using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services?
My husband was busy with work, so I had to prepare almost everything by myself, and since I understood neither the laws here nor English, I am really glad I used a representative.
Your help with my visitor extension was also a huge relief.
Thank you very much.
