Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?

I first came to Canada after finishing my third year of university, on a leave of absence.

A Canadian man told me he liked me. At first, I was planning to go back to Japan after my working holiday, so I turned him down, but after seeing him keep trying for months, I started dating him three months before my working holiday ended.

What was the most memorable part of the process?

At the time, I was a university student with only part-time job experience, but she told me that it counted as proper work experience, and I obtained a work permit about six months after applying. I was able to work in Canada while the application was in progress, so I lived with him. If I had simply kept working in Canada on the work permit, everything would have been easy, but I really wanted to graduate from university, so I next started working toward permanent residence as a common-law partner.
