This is the case of Client N, who, facing the expiry of the PR card held by the client’s partner, a permanent resident, received support from Shiraishi VisaJP Canada while still in Japan and went ahead with a Family Class permanent residence application. After the difficulty of revising documents because of rule changes by the immigration authorities after arriving in Canada, the client obtained permanent residence in approximately 12 months.
The required documents changed along the way and the road was not smooth, but the client successfully obtained permanent residence under Family Class.

Client Comments
Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?
It all began three years ago, when my partner, whom I had married in Japan, said, “I’m thinking of going back to Canada…” That one remark started my journey toward permanent residence, which at the time I never imagined would take so long.
My partner was not a citizen but a permanent resident, and I was told that once the PR card expired, my partner would no longer be able to enter Canada, which would automatically mean making the weighty decision to cut ties with Canada.
Even after my partner explained all this, it somehow felt like someone else’s problem, and it did not really sink in.
What made you choose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada?
So I decided to ask Shiraishi VisaJP Canada, which gave me careful support via Skype and other means even while I was in Japan, and which also reassured my anxious partner.
What was the most memorable part of the process?
I learned that we could not apply while my partner was in Japan and that we first had to go to Canada, so we decided to go to Canada together. I gathered in Japan some of the necessary documents the consultant had told me about in advance and then went to Canada. By this point, more than a year had already passed since our first consultation.
Although I was in Canada, I was only on visitor status. The immigration authorities’ requirements had changed from a year earlier, and it turned out that some documents were no longer needed while others had become necessary. To gather them, after two months in Canada I reluctantly returned to Japan alone, and since I was already over 30 and could not apply for a working holiday, I applied for a study permit in Japan. Because they carefully explained this decision and the study permit application to me, everything went smoothly without any trouble. They also kept me informed in a timely way about the constantly changing information from the immigration authorities.
Then I returned to Canada. By then a year and a half had passed since our first consultation, and the preparations for the application were finally complete. From there, things moved quickly, and the application work was finished within a few months. During that time, I simply left the work to the consultant and assistant in charge and mostly just watched; their handling was very professional.
After the application, however, came days of simply waiting, like a kind of endurance training. In the end, I waited a full year after applying. During that time, I sent the consultant many “Is it here yet?” emails, and I am very grateful that each time they replied with messages that kept me going. They also made time for information and small talk not directly related to permanent residence, which gave me a sense of reassurance.
Finally, a year later, I left Canada and entered again, and obtained permanent residence. My PR card arrived two months after I became a permanent resident, with the bonus that it was delivered to the house next door. Three years after we began planning, two and a half years after my first consultation, and 14 months after applying, I finally obtained permanent residence.
How was your experience using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services?
Nowadays, the internet is overflowing with information about everything. Even so, I am very grateful to the consultant and assistant in charge, who gave me accurate information, carried out the application reliably, and helped me obtain permanent residence with a strong sense of responsibility. Above all, it was because they watched over me with warm, encouraging words that I was able to see such a long process through to the end.
Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada
If I need help again in the future, for example with renewing my PR card or obtaining citizenship, I would very much like to work with the same consultant and assistant again. Thank you so much for everything over such a long time.
