From a Parent-and-Child Study Abroad Journey to Permanent Residence as an Early Childhood Educator|Ms. S, Who Moved to Canada in Her 40s

Date Posted:

Last Updated:

This case follows a client who began with a parent-and-child study abroad journey in her 40s, moved through a study permit and a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), and ultimately obtained Canadian permanent residence as an Early Childhood Educator through the BC PNP International Graduate stream. From the first consultation in 2020, Shiraishi VisaJP Canada supported her long-term immigration plan and handled multiple visa applications on her behalf from beginning to end.

The instructions for the required documents were detailed and easy to follow, and the advice on how to write the letters was very much appreciated.

Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?

We began with a parent-and-child study abroad plan, hoping that in Canada — a country with so many immigrants — my children could attend school while encountering a wide range of cultures and values. Both the children and I came to love life in Canada and wanted to stay as long as we could, so I decided to study at college and work here with permanent residence as the goal.

What made you choose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada?

In 2020 I had no idea where to begin — I only knew I wanted to go to Canada — and the first thing I did was attend one of their free seminars. What stayed with me was how carefully they explained the current situation around immigrating to Canada, and how sincerely they picked up and answered every question. The fact that they were constantly publishing the latest information, and their track record of handling visa applications, were also reassuring. I could feel that this was a team that wanted to give everything to support people hoping to come to Canada, and that made me want to entrust my visa applications to Shiraishi VisaJP Canada.

What was the most memorable part of the process?

Everything was a first for me, and I had no one around me in a similar position — I moved here in my 40s. It would affect my children’s futures enormously and I could not afford to fail, so before each major decision, whether about studying in Canada or about employment, I became extremely anxious many times over. What I was truly grateful for was being able to consult Shiraishi VisaJP Canada at every one of those points, from choosing a college programme to choosing an employer, and to receive their advice. When the owner of my workplace changed after I had filed the permanent residence application I was enormously worried, but with precise advice and handling I was able to get through it, and I am grateful for that. I was also grateful that when the visa was slow to be issued, they contacted the assessing officer on my behalf again and again.

How was your experience using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services?

I was anxious about almost everything and I think I asked far too many questions, but receiving precise advice every single time was genuinely wonderful. Emails were answered quickly. And I am moved to have gone from having no idea where to start to holding permanent residence. Knowing a professional consultant was there beside me was a real source of strength during the long wait for a decision.

Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada

Since obtaining permanent residence, the first thing that moved me — and that I am grateful for — is that my children can attend university at domestic tuition rates. I want to keep facing the children and families I work with sincerely and to work as a trusted Early Childhood Educator for many years. And I want to go hiking and camping as much as I can in Canada’s beautiful natural surroundings.

For those about to travel to Canada, I know some of you will feel anxious. But if you ask Shiraishi VisaJP Canada your questions thoroughly in advance, talk things through, and move forward toward what you have decided once you are satisfied, I believe your chances will keep growing. Picture the moment you receive permanent residence, and keep working toward that future!

Additional Comments

From 2020 onward, across the study permit, the visitor visa, the PGWP — every visa and then permanent residence — I was truly, truly indebted to Ms. Shiraishi and to so many consultants and staff members. Now that I have obtained permanent residence, I feel nothing but gratitude. Thank you so very much!

Key Points from the Consultant

Consultant's Point

Our relationship with Ms. S now spans six and a half years. She first consulted us about a year before the pandemic began. As I recall, one of the reasons she had started thinking about immigrating to Canada was her concern about radiation following the nuclear accident. At the outset we began looking together at ways of pursuing permanent residence through agriculture, the field in which she had extensive experience, and at other, more reliable options. After comparing a range of possibilities, including occupations such as massage therapy, she ultimately chose the path of pursuing permanent residence as an early childhood educator. What is remarkable about Ms. S is that once she sets a goal she keeps working toward it without ever wavering, and that she put every piece of advice into practice conscientiously. Her husband did not travel with her, so she was raising four children single-handedly. On top of that, she took on childcare — a field entirely different from anything she had done before. Studying at school, job hunting, negotiating the employment conditions required for the permanent residence application, and preparing visa and permanent residence documents for the whole family: her sincerity in every one of these was striking. I was myself encouraged many times by watching her work step by step toward her dream. That experience also became a great source of strength, allowing us to tell other clients working toward immigration, with real confidence, that a way will open up. We are delighted that the whole family has now obtained Canadian permanent residence, and that her children are in a position to attend university in Canada as permanent residents. Ms. S, thank you so much for letting us travel this long road with you. We wish you and your family every happiness and a life in Canada full of smiles and reward.
