This time, based on the client’s nationality, we applied for a work permit under the Canada–Colombia Free Trade Agreement (CCOFTA).
Just as Japanese nationals who meet certain conditions can apply for a work permit under the CPTPP, nationals of countries that have a free trade agreement with Canada may also be eligible for a special work permit category under their respective agreement. If the applicant’s occupation and background meet the required conditions, it is possible to apply for a work permit without obtaining an LMIA, making this a category well worth considering for those who qualify.
