CPTPP Business Visitors
What Is a Business Visitor?
This is not something you apply for in advance; you present a letter of invitation at the port of entry and are authorized to stay.
Length of Stay
The initial period of stay is up to 6 months. An extension is possible if the applicant can submit documents proving the need to extend their stay.
Eligibility Requirements
- The main source of remuneration for the business activity is outside Canada.
- The principal place of business and the place where profits are mainly accrued are outside Canada.
- The purpose of the stay is to engage in one of the following business activities.
- Meetings and consultations
- Research and design
- Manufacturing and production
- Marketing
- Sales
- Distribution
- After-sales or after-lease services
- General services
CPTPP Investor Work Permit
Length of Stay
The initial period of stay is up to 1 year. An extension is possible if the applicant can submit documents proving the need to extend their stay.
Eligibility Requirements
- You plan to invest a substantial amount of capital and are prepared to do so.
- You are the owner of the enterprise or an employee of that enterprise.
- You hold a supervisory or executive position, or a position requiring essential skills.
CPTPP Intra-Company Transferee Work Permit
Length of Stay
The initial period of stay is up to 3 years. An extension is possible if the applicant can submit documents proving the need to extend their stay.
Eligibility Requirements

CPTPP Professionals Work Permit
Length of Stay
The period of stay is up to 1 year. An extension is possible if the applicant can submit documents proving the need to extend their stay.
Eligibility Requirements
- You have a job offer from a company.
- You have a four-year university degree or higher, plus any additional education required for the specific occupation as listed in the NOC.
- You have 2 years of paid work experience in the relevant field.
- You will receive remuneration equivalent to that of other similarly qualified professionals in the industry and region where the work is performed (remuneration does not include non-monetary elements such as housing or travel costs).
- The occupation is at skill level 0 or 1.
Applicable Skill Levels (TEER)
Skill levels are defined as follows in the National Occupational Classification (NOC), Canada’s occupational classification code.

Ineligible Occupations
- health, education and social services occupations and related occupations
- judges, lawyers and notaries, except foreign legal consultants
- managers in postal and courier services
- managers of telecommunications carriers
- occupations related to cultural industries
- recreation, sports and fitness program and service directors
- researchers, except those intending to work at an academic entity in Canada
CPTPP Technicians Work Permit
Length of Stay
The period of stay is up to 1 year. An extension is possible if the applicant can submit documents proving the need to extend their stay.
Eligibility Requirements
- You have a job offer from a company.
- You have completed a program of 2 years or more at a vocational school or junior college, or higher education, plus any additional education required for the specific occupation as listed in the NOC.
- You have 4 years of paid work experience in the relevant field.
- You will receive remuneration equivalent to that of other similarly qualified professionals in the industry and region where the work is performed (remuneration does not include non-monetary elements such as housing or travel costs).
- The occupation is at skill level 2 or 3.

- industrial designers
- industrial engineering technologists and technicians
- industrial instrument technicians and mechanics
- interior designers
- international purchasing and selling agents
- land survey technologists and technicians
- mechanical engineering technologists and technicians
- oil and gas well drillers, servicers and testers (excluding operators)
- technical occupations in geomatics and meteorology
- international purchasing and selling agents
- supervisors in the following areas
- carpentry trades
- electrical trades and telecommunications occupations
- food, beverage and tobacco processing
- forest products processing
- heavy construction equipment crews
- installers, repairers and servicers
- machinists and related occupations
- mechanic trades
- metal forming
- mineral and metal processing
- mining and quarrying
- oil and gas drilling and service
- other construction trades
- petroleum, gas and chemical processing and utilities
- pipefitting trades
- plastic and rubber products manufacturing
- printing and related occupations
- shaping and erecting trades
- textile processing
