On January 12, 2026, the Government of Yukon announced important updates to the Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) for 2026.
This program allows the Yukon government to nominate eligible foreign workers for Canadian permanent residence.
Nomination allocation for 2026: 282 spots
For 2026, Yukon has received 282 nomination spaces from the Government of Canada. This number represents the maximum number of applicants Yukon can nominate for permanent residence in 2026.This represents a decrease from 2025, when Yukon nominated a total of 312 permanent residence candidates.
How the 2026 application process works (EOI system)
In 2026, the YNP will continue to use an Expression of Interest (EOI) system.
Intake periods (twice a year)
Yukon employers can submit an online EOI form during one of the following periods:
- January 19 to January 30, 2026
- July 6 to July 17, 2026
Please note that individuals cannot apply on their own.
Applications must be submitted by a Yukon employer who is sponsoring a foreign worker.
How EOIs are assessed
Employers provide basic information about the foreign worker they want to support.
Each EOI is given points based on Yukon’s priorities.
Additional points may also be given to employers who submitted an EOI in 2025 but were not invited to apply.
After each intake period, employers with the highest scores will be invited to submit a full application to the YNP.
Priority groups for the 2026 YNP
For 2026, Yukon will give priority to the following:
Priority occupations and employers
- Regulated health care professionals
- Employers located in rural areas of Yukon
Priority foreign workers
Foreign workers who meet one or more of the following conditions will be prioritized:
- Have lived and worked in Yukon for at least one year
- Are graduates of Yukon University
- Are Francophone or French-speaking
- Received a Temporary Measure Letter of Support in 2024 or 2025
Some applicants do not need to submit an EOI
Foreign nationals who received a Temporary Measure Letter of Support in 2024 or 2025
do not need to submit an EOI.
These applicants will be contacted directly by the Yukon government with instructions on the next steps.
Message from the Yukon Government
The Yukon government has stated that it remains committed to:
- Supporting local businesses facing labour shortages
- Maintaining a fair and transparent immigration process
- Supporting people who have already chosen Yukon as their home
Note from VISA JP Canada
The Yukon Nominee Program continues to strongly favor people who are already living and working in Yukon and who are well integrated into the local community.
