Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?

I came to Vancouver to fulfil my long-held dream of becoming an early childhood educator overseas.

At first, I had counselling sessions with a counsellor for a while and learned about the various ways to immigrate, and later I asked Ms. Yamashita to handle my consulting.

What was the most memorable part of the process?

I am a worrier to begin with, and as a student I had often run into trouble with visas and had a hard time, so when it came to an immigration application, I could not stop worrying about every little detail. However, both Ms. Yamashita and the counsellor answered even my smallest questions very carefully, so although my work permit and PR applications were more complicated than a study permit, I was able to keep going with peace of mind and a positive attitude.

What stands out most is that every time I asked a question because I was worried about something, Ms. Yamashita told me, “It’s fine / I think it will be fine,” and I felt relieved again and again. Whenever I had questions about visas other than my own PR and work permit, she also explained things very kindly and in detail, and I was truly grateful.

It has already been nearly 15 years since I made up my mind to move abroad no matter what. Precisely because I knew my life would change greatly depending on whether I could get permanent residence, I am really glad I asked Ms. Yamashita.

Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada

The job is not always as fun as I expected, but every time a child hugs me with a smile and says “I love you,” I feel really glad I chose this work. I want to keep working hard as an ECE in Canada.
