Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?
What brought me to Canada was that, after about five years of working for a company in Japan, I could no longer see my future goals. I tried to find a new goal but did not know what to do, so I decided to challenge myself with something I had never tried before and chose to study abroad. I planned to return to Japan after two years, but I was already over 30, and I thought that even if I went back to Japan, experience as a student alone would not be enough and that it would be better to have work experience in Canada, so I decided to look for a job here.

By a stroke of luck, a company had an opening for the same position I had held in my previous job, and I was able to obtain a work permit. What was the most memorable part of the process?
Above all, I thought that when I returned to Japan and looked for a job again, it would show that I had stayed in Canada with a plan, so I set immigrating to Canada as my next goal and worked toward it. The IELTS test was hard. The test fee is high and registering takes time, so I decided the fastest way was to study at a school, and since I worked on weekdays, I attended a school with weekend classes. On weekdays, I did the school assignments on the bus to work in the morning and before going to bed, but studying while working was tough. In my second test, I could not do the listening at all and thought it was hopeless, but my score improved over the first test, and I somehow passed on the second attempt. At that moment, I felt that going to school had been worth it.
