Family Class PR After an International Marriage: Moving Mid-Review Required Dialogue with IRCC|Ms. K

This is the case of Ms. K, who asked Shiraishi VisaJP Canada from Japan to handle her overseas Family Class (spouse) application following her international marriage to a Canadian man. Although she entered Canada while the application was under review, which required some back-and-forth with IRCC, she obtained permanent residence in 10 months.
Even with an unexpected hiccup during my application from Japan, having each issue handled so carefully every time gave me real peace of mind.

Key Points from the Consultant
After submitting the application, the client moved from Japan to Canada while it was under review.
Even though we had notified IRCC of this, the final-step instructions she received were still the ones meant for applicants living outside Canada.
We had actually anticipated this might happen, so we persistently kept requesting a correction, again and again, until it was finally changed to the instructions for applicants living in Canada.
Apart from that, the application otherwise proceeded smoothly.

Client Comments
Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?
Because I got engaged in an international marriage to my Canadian boyfriend.
What made you choose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada?
For the online Family Class (spouse) application from Japan, I am not very good with computers, and with my busy work schedule I felt it would be difficult to apply on my own. So I decided to ask an immigration consultant, and consulted three different immigration consulting companies. Among them, Shiraishi VisaJP Canada had the most reasonable fees and had also been recommended by a friend, so I decided to ask them to handle my application.
What was the most memorable part of the process?
The hardest part was putting together the details of my addresses and workplaces for the past 10 years. It was also a challenge keeping in touch with my husband living in Canada over LINE while accounting for the time difference, and (sorting out our frequent trips back and forth between Japan and Canada was also quite a task.)
How was your experience using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services?
Having them put together the online visa application documents was a huge help for me, since I am not good with computers. I also applied for my visa (an overseas application) while I was still in Japan, and entered Canada before receiving approval — but afterward, I was mistakenly sent the final-step instructions meant for applicants living outside Canada.
This was despite the fact that I had already moved my address to Canada. After requesting a correction from IRCC on this issue, I spent three anxious months without hearing anything back. During that time, I consulted with Ms. Gould by email many times, and her consistently attentive, careful responses each time were very reassuring. In the end, when the correction request finally went through, I really felt the peace of mind that comes with having a professional consultant by your side.
Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada
When I applied, I expected to obtain permanent residence (PR) in around 6 months, but with the correction request it ended up taking 10 months. While you are waiting to hear back from IRCC, I think it is natural to feel anxious or impatient, but all you can do is wait patiently. Anyone applying for permanent residence going forward may run into unexpected situations too, but for me, once I accepted that there was nothing I could do about it, it put my mind at ease.
