Key Points from the Consultant
We supported Ms. M with her earlier working holiday application and then with her Family Class permanent residence application.
Remarkably, we had also helped her sponsor, her husband, with his own permanent residence in the past. We are grateful for a connection like that, and delighted that both of them are now Canadian permanent residents.
Doing this work over a long period brings more and more moments like this, and it reminded me again that I want to keep providing service that makes our clients happy. We wish Mr. and Mrs. M every happiness for many years to come.
Immigration Consultant
Born in Japan. Worked in tour planning and led international tours at a major travel agency, visiting dozens of countries. After immigrating to Canada in 2003, she worked at a software company in Montreal focusing on the Japanese market. She studied Immigration Consulting at Vanier College and became a licensed immigration consultant. Wanting to support the Japanese community more actively, she relocated to Vancouver where she currently resides and works.
Client Comments
Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?
The age limit for travelling on a working holiday was approaching, and since I am from a cold part of Japan I thought a cold country might suit me better than a hot one, so I decided on Canada. I had never travelled abroad before, so I did not know whether Canada would really suit me, but I came with the feeling that I wanted to connect it to permanent residence if at all possible. In the course of obtaining a visitor visa, a working holiday visa and an LMIA work permit, I was lucky enough to meet my current partner, and in order to live together with him in Vancouver I decided to apply for permanent residence through the Family Class.
What made you choose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada?
Ms. Sakurai had helped me with my working holiday application, so I already knew the quality of her work. We then found out that my partner had also been helped by her in the past, and the two of us felt we absolutely wanted to ask for her by name, so we got in touch.
What was the most memorable part of the process?
About three months after filing, IRCC asked us to submit a timeline from how we met through to our marriage, within one month. It was difficult for us to judge on our own which information could serve as evidence, so we simply handed Ms. Sakurai everything that looked usable. If we had applied on our own, I do not think we would have known what to compile or how. She organised and submitted the documents immediately, and with no returns or further requests after that, permanent residence was approved in about two weeks. It was an enormous relief.
How was your experience using Shiraishi VisaJP Canada’s services?
My partner and I lived in different places, so even finding time together to check and collect photographs and documents was limited. Had we applied on our own, we would have spent considerable time and effort on preparing and verifying the paperwork. By entrusting it to a professional we avoided arguing over documents, and the application moved forward quickly and accurately. Since both my partner and I had been helped by Ms. Sakurai on separate matters, it felt like a real connection, and I was glad we could request her by name despite how busy she is. Thank you so much.
Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada
Our CoPR was issued recently, and from April life with my partner finally begins. College fees change once you have permanent residence, so I am thinking of studying translation, which interested me even before I came to Canada. People say obtaining permanent residence is not the goal but the beginning, and that is exactly how it feels. Obtaining PR may not be easy in the current climate, but I also do not think having it guarantees a secure life from then on, so rather than resting on the status of being a PR holder, I want to keep working hard.
