What is the Health Authority Stream?
This stream is designed for individuals who have received a full-time, permanent job offer from a BC health authority, regardless of the occupation. For doctors, nurses, and midwives, eligibility extends to those who are not directly employed by a health authority but work in roles that support the healthcare system.
What is the Health Authority Stream?
Work experience
- You must meet the specific requirements for your occupation as outlined by Health Canada.
- You must have the necessary work experience, education, and licenses to perform the duties of the job.
Educational background
- You must have completed at least a high school diploma or an equivalent or higher level of education.
Language proficiency
To be eligible, applicants must have scored at least CLB 4 on an approved English or French language test taken within two years of their application.

Job offer
- Applicants must have a full-time, permanent job offer from a BC health authority, with no restrictions on occupation.
- Physicians and nurses do not require a job offer but must obtain a verification letter from a BC health authority confirming their status.
- Midwives must provide an offer letter from a recognized midwife practice group in BC, confirming acceptance as a member for at least six months.
Intention to live in British Columbia
You must demonstrate that you have the intent to live, work and economically establish in BC.
In this category, receiving a nomination from the BC provincial government to IRCC significantly increases the chances of obtaining permanent residence.

Application process for the Health Authority Stream
01Apply online for the BCPNP once the minimum requirements are met
Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements for the Health Authority Stream must apply online for the BCPNP.
02Receiving a Nomination Certificate
Once the review at the BCPNP processing office is complete, the applicant will receive the results. Passing the review is referred to as being nominated.
03Apply for permanent residence to IRCC
After being nominated, the applicant must submit their permanent residence application online to IRCC within six months.
04Review by IRCC
After the review is completed by IRCC, the applicant will receive a letter called the Confirmation of Permanent Resident (CoPR).
05Landing
Applicants from outside Canada will enter Canada with their Confirmation of Permanent Resident (CoPR). Applicants from within Canada can complete the landing process online.
06Receive your Permanent Resident (PR) card
Your PR card will be delivered to the designated address within Canada within a few months.
