Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?

I applied for a working holiday just before the age limit. I was torn between Australia and Canada, but since many of my friends had studied in Canada, I chose Canada. I had also heard that Vancouver was the most livable place in the world, so I chose it quite casually, but looking back, I think it was the right decision.

At first, I planned to return to Japan after a year, but the way people work in Vancouver, the people and the environment suited me, so I decided to live here permanently without any guarantees.

I think everyone aims for permanent residence because they want to live in Canada, but for me, it was really hard to get there. Especially since I am not young, earning points was tough, but if you want to live here permanently, I think it is important not to give up and to keep believing.

Also, nothing changes unless you try, so I think the first step is to take action.

It took me about five years to get permanent residence. My path was different from people who came young as students, so it was really hard. That is exactly why I feel every day the weight of Canadian permanent residence and how grateful I am to be able to live here.
