I applied under two categories, and the first result came from the new TR to PR pathway.

What made you choose Shiraishi VisaJP Canada?

I had been receiving help from Shiraishi VisaJP Canada since my work permit, through an introduction from my employer. When it came time to apply for permanent residence, I thought it would be smoothest to continue with Ms. Shiraishi, who had been advising me toward permanent residence since my work permit days, so I asked her without hesitation.

What was the most memorable part of the process?

At first I had registered with the BCPNP, because there were no other options for my occupation. I thought it was my only option, so even after registering, I felt that I would not receive an ITA unless I raised my score further, for example by improving my English.

Then, in April 2021, I received unexpected good news from Ms. Shiraishi: my occupation was included in a new category being set up for a limited time. I was very surprised, and at the same time I felt it was a chance given to me by God for having worked so hard.

Applying under another category meant paying twice, but I felt I couldn’t let this chance slip away, so I applied under this category as well without hesitation.

The new category was limited in both time and number of applicants, so I had them apply quickly. However, months went by after applying with no news, and I was starting to think it wasn’t going to work out. Then, four months later, I received an ITA under the BCPNP, which I had originally applied for. I was glad that, following Ms. Shiraishi’s advice, I hadn’t withdrawn it.

While I was proceeding with the BCPNP application, having submitted all the documents to the government and waiting for the review, there was movement on the new permanent residence category too. I wasn’t sure what to do, but Ms. Shiraishi said that although it would cost double, it would be better to pursue both if I could afford it. I agonized over it, but my employer offered to help with the costs, so I went ahead with both.

In the end, the new permanent residence category finished processing seven months after applying, and I obtained permanent residence!

Ms. Shiraishi immediately contacted the BCPNP, and the government agreed to refund the BCPNP application fee. I hadn’t expected this either, so it was a pleasant surprise.

Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada

It has been three and a half years since I came to Canada on a working holiday. My current job is by no means easy, and I thought about quitting many times, but I’m glad I kept at it. I don’t know how long I will continue this job, but I love Canada’s nature and my hobby is hiking, so I’m very happy that getting permanent residence means I can continue this hobby for good.
