Client M originally asked us, through their employer, to handle their LMIA and work permit application.
Since Canadian visas are only issued through to a passport's expiry date, Client M's LMIA Work Permit, which should have been valid for 2 years, was issued for a shorter period.
After obtaining a new passport, we requested an extension so that it would run for the full 2 years.
Whether by luck or a processing error on the part of the IRCC officer, the work permit was approved for a full 2 years from the date of approval, meaning Client M ended up with a visa valid for more than 3 years in total.
