But through a good workplace and the people she met, a desire to keep living in Canada took root, and she decided to settle here. After an international marriage, she used her career as an early childhood educator to obtain permanent residence through the BC PNP.

Why did you decide to immigrate to Canada?
When I first came to Canada on a study permit, I was not thinking about permanent residence at all. But thanks to a wonderful workplace and meeting all kinds of people, I began to want to live in Canada a little longer, and I took the step of immigrating.

Future outlook and a message for those planning to travel to Canada
If you have even the slightest wish to come to Canada or to immigrate here, I think the important thing is to talk to someone early. Canadian immigration policy has changed frequently over the past few years. Talking to a professional so that you can respond flexibly to the situation is, I believe, a big first step.
Ms. S had a fairly high Express Entry score, but invitation cut-offs remained too high for too long, so we decided to apply through the BC PNP Express Entry stream.
At the time the BC PNP was prioritising early childhood educators, so everything from receiving the invitation to filing went smoothly. Partway through, the number of BC PNP nominations allocated by the federal government was halved, which delayed the review considerably and meant the nomination took longer than expected — about seven months.
Once nominated, an additional 600 points were added to her Express Entry score, and the permanent residence application itself was reviewed in about two and a half months.
Canadian policy shifted dizzyingly during the process and threw us around, but we are delighted that Ms. S is now a PR. Congratulations!
