When I was going to apply for a work permit, the study abroad agency I had been using introduced me to Shiraishi VisaJP Canada. What was the most memorable part of the process?
When it was decided that I would start my work permit application, my working holiday visa was about to expire and I was full of anxiety, but thanks to Ms. Sakurai handling communication with my employer, preparing the necessary documents and giving me advice, I was able to complete the application.
I didn’t hesitate to ask Ms. Sakurai for counselling on my permanent residence application too. During the counselling, she told me in advance about the documents needed for Express Entry, so I was able to start preparing, and by the time my ITA arrived, I had almost all the necessary documents ready.
However, I got a late start on applying for my educational credential assessment, which made me nervous, so for those considering applying for permanent residence, I recommend preparing early any documents that remain valid for several years once obtained, such as an educational credential assessment or English test results!
In my case, I applied to an organization called ICES for my educational credential assessment, but I was surprised to see a processing time of 36 weeks and thought, “I can’t wait that long!” So I decided to apply to another organization, WES, as well. In the end, WES, which I applied to later, finished its assessment first. There’s no harm in doing what you can in advance, such as gathering documents, so that you don’t have to panic.

I originally came to Canada on a working holiday, intending it as a one-year vacation, so honestly I never imagined I would end up getting permanent residence. The reason someone like me, who had planned nothing, was able to complete a work permit and a permanent residence application is Ms. Sakurai’s help. Neither my life in Canada so far nor my life in Canada from now on would have been possible without Ms. Sakurai.
